Important Message Regarding Residential Recycling

Important Announcement Regarding Recycling

Issued Sept 7, 2017

We would like to thank residents for their patience and understanding as we resumed operations in the southeast and east Texas areas following Hurricane Harvey. Beginning Monday, September 11, 2017, residential recycling services will resume on regularly scheduled collection days for our customers in the area. Waste Management is back on schedule for regular garbage pick-up (storm debris is not included).

Recycling, green waste and heavy trash (not storm debris) service will resume on Monday, Sept. 11. Waste Management will not pick up bulk items if they are or were wet from the storm. They will pick up bulk items (i.e. mattresses, sofas, etc. only if they are uncontaminated). If items are deemed contaminated by Harvey, those items will be left at the curb for pick up by the City’s storm debris collection contractor. Green waste will not be picked up unless it is normal green waste such as leaves, grass clippings, and branches that are cut, tied and bundled as normal.
